Early Snow and High Hopes

Welcome everyone to the 2017-18 ski season! We got snow at Duck Mountain at the beginning of November this year and amazingly it stayed!  I was out grooming soon after and we have a good 3 inch base. (about 8 cm) This is a very promising start.

However, we still need more snow before we can open. I have been answering many questions about opening. Each year we try to open as soon as we have the snow conditions to permit it. With only 6 inches(15cm) of snowfall that has been packed into a base so far there is still not enough snow to cover our slopes properly.

We have fantastic All Natural Snow at Duck Mountain!

No Snowmaking!

So now we play the waiting game. Eyes to the skies and hoping for a White Christmas.

We hope to open on December 23rd but we need more snowfall before then. Keep watching here and on Facebook for updates.

Opening Postponed

Things are looking like a White Christmas but there has not been enough snow for us to open for the 26th. We have decided to postpone our opening day until December 30th in hopes that Santa will bring us more snow for Christmas.

Need more Snow!

Well here we are mid-month and the excitement is building! Christmas is coming and snow is still really lean.  The weather report keeps changing and with the deep freeze on this week the sky just refuses to snow.  They are saying the cold snap is over this weekend. I hope so.

Getting lots of questions about our opening date. We still hope to be open December 26th but it will depend on the snow. Keep tuned in here and on Facebook for further reports.  Also we will be leaving snow conditions and reports on our answering machine at 306-542-4111 starting this week.
